Business–community partnership for safe education initiatives — is an important topic at the Europe Civil Security Forum in Warsaw. Tetiana Volochai, Head of the Community Development Board of the MHP-Community Charitable Foundation will talk about the experience and effectiveness of such interaction: “We are not just investing in safety — we are building the infrastructure of resilience in communities”.
The MHP-Community Foundation, established and supported by the socially responsible business MHP, has helped create over 80 shelters in schools and medical institutions during the full-scale war. But a deeper question remains: what happens inside the shelters? A space without purpose is just a reinforced basement. That’s why, in partnership with the NGO Dobrobat, The MHP-Community Foundation are developing an approach where shelters also serve as places for learning, development, and emotional relief.
“A pilot initiative in Kaniv — intellectual games for students held in shelters — clearly demonstrated: environment shapes behavior. If we don’t bring meaning to these spaces, children will merely “wait out” air raids. If we do, they can continue to learn, grow, and live. Safety is not only about concrete — it’s about trust, care, and long-term vision, built jointly by business and communities”, — emphasizes Tetiana Volochai.
We will learn about the implementation of meaningful security education projects during Europe Civil Security.
The Forum is organized by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in partnership with the All-Ukrainian association of local self-governments «Association of amalgamated territorial communities» as part of a project implemented with the support of the European Commission within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).
