Integrated solutions for mountain communities: education, security and effective self-governance – topic of the Mayor of Yasinia community speech Andrii Deliatynchuk at the Europe Civil Security Forum in Warsaw.
The Yasinya community (Rakhiv rayon, Zakarpattia oblast) is the highest mountainous community in Ukraine, with unique challenges, including remoteness, difficult terrain, multinational composition of the population.
Andrii Deliatynchuk will talk about challenges, such as natural disasters (floods, landslides, lack of rescue centers, military threats). And solutions: local safety points, first aid training, flood and climate change monitoring systems in mountainous areas.
We will also learn about the activities of mountain rescuers and volunteer fire brigades, safety classes, and emergency preparedness programs.
The Forum is organized by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in partnership with the All-Ukrainian association of local self-governments «Association of amalgamated territorial communities» as part of a project implemented with the support of the European Commission within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).
