Ukraine continues to integrate into the European civil protection system and strengthen its ability to respond quickly to natural and man-made disasters. The All-Ukrainian Association of Local Self-Governments «Association of Amalgamated Territorial Communities» and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have signed a joint Statement of Intent to implement the project «Module HCP: Ukraine`s Collaboration with the EU in Emergency Response». This initiative is being implemented under the European Union Grant Agreement and aims to increase the fire and rescue capabilities of rescuers and strengthen the material and technical base of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The project will last for 18 months and will include upgrading equipment in line with EU standards, training of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) personnel and introduction of new working methods. In particular, it is planned to upgrade the equipment within the module, which will increase productivity and quickly pump out large volumes of water during floods, purchase special vehicles to ensure fast logistics of the module to work in extreme conditions and conduct training exercises.
